Why Bone Broth is Beneficial?
Bone broth has SO MANY benefits that it deserved its own post! You can read about the Top 4 Benefits of Bone Broth here!!
Bone broth can be made so many different ways. However, every recipe will have two things in common. The first step should always be to roast the bones prior to placing them in the crock pot. This exponentially increases the flavor! The second part of the recipe that is extremely important is the acidity. Apple cider vinegar (ACV), lemon juice, or more acidic vegetables should be used to help pull out the minerals and electrolytes.
Other than those two steps, you can mix and match vegetables and herbs to change the flavor of the bone broth. I would recommend trying to find a local butcher or market that you can request large bone cuts, feet, hooves, etc. The larger bones contain more ligaments, tendons, and marrow!! This is where all the goodness comes from. Local and grass-fed are preferred, but you if those aren’t available large bone cuts will work too. If you are local to the Phoenix area check out The Meat Shop! They are my ultimate favorite and can provide you with large bone cuts!!
My go-to mixture is the following recipe! Regardless how you make bone broth it is one the most delicious, nutritious, and holistic remedies out there. Enjoy it warmed up like a cup of tea or use it as a base to your soups! My advice on how to store your bone broth is to freeze some of it in silicon molds. This helps keep it fresh for longer. It is also super convenient to pull out quick for those soup recipes I mentioned! The bulk of it I store in a large half gallon mason jar, in the fridge, to drink on the regular 😉 I hope you guys try some bone broth if you haven’t already and reap all the amazing benefits.
