Salad dressings can be very deceiving! They can look so simple, yet be full of additives and unnecessary ingredients. A “healthy” salad can quickly take a turn for unhealthy with the wrong dressing or too much. Salad dressings can make or break a salad! This one will only make it better! Simple. Fresh. Unrefined Oil. No Additives. No Gluten. Organic.
Organic, unrefined, cold pressed olive oil is the base to many salad dressings, or it should be. No canola, sunflower seed, or highly processed vegetable oils here folks! The reason you want to look for organic, unrefined, and cold pressed is because it tells you how it was made. Cold pressed or expeller pressed means the oil was extracted mechanically and not chemically. This preserves the natural state, its aromas, nutrients, and flavors. Avoid cooking in high heats with olive oil. It has a relatively low smoke point and its healthy fats can easily turn into unhealthy fats when cooked at high temperatures. Olive oil as a dipping sauce or in a salad dressing is a wonderful choice!
